My wife and I booked Explore Madeira Tours for our airport pick up, drop off, and the East and West Island tours. They were very great people, super nice and knowledgeable. They took us to places that we would have never found and we actually met some of the family too which was awesome. They showed us great food spots and provided recommendations. One thing to note on how patient they were and nice, our flight was delayed for a three hours. However, Explore Madeira was able to be flexible with our schedule and gave us an hour to refresh before going on the tour. We highly recommend them, do not hesitate to book. We had an amazing experience on the West Madeira private tour with David! He drove us around the island in his taxi and showed us so many beautiful places we never would have discovered on our own. David is incredibly knowledgeable about Madeira and shared so much interesting information about the island’s history, culture, and hidden gems throughout the day. I contacted Explore Madeira Tours at short notice for ideas for our group of 9 . David and Catia couldn't have been more helpful in terms of swift communication, advice and value for money. They arranged two trips for us - West coast tour and a sunset trip to do The Stairway to Heaven. On both trips David and Catia agreed some last minute changes and were kind enough to delay the start time of the West Coast Tour as we were a little tired after their hospitality! We loved their professional but fun outlook and were grateful for all the information they provided during the trips. They made us feel like friends rather than paying customers which was lovely. On our recent trip to Madeira, we were fortunate enough to tour the West side of Madeira with our tour guide Catia. Our experience was amazing from start to finish. Booking was simple and fast and can be done directly through Whatsapp. The tour is a private tour that takes you to all the beautiful viewpoints of Madeira, as well as Seixal Beach, Porto Moniz, Cabo Girao, Câmara de Lobos Bay and more. Catia picked us up from our hotel and guided us throughout the day. We also stopped for Poncha and lunch at a delicious local restaurant. Our experience was very memorable thanks to our tour guide Catia. She did an amazing job driving us through the streets of Madeira and making us feel like a local. Definitely a tour you cannot find anywhere else! Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. We highly recommend this tour for anyone coming to Madeira! ~ Cathy D

We did a day tour with Cátia of the western part of Madeira. We had a brilliant time, she was reliable and picked us up on time (was very easy to organise and communicate with her). We told her in advance where we wanted to go but she also added lots of local knowledge and some other places on the way for us to see. We visited Henriques & Henriques, Fisherman’s village, Porto Moniz and the natural pools, Ribeira da janela, Seixal beach, Cabo Girão and many other viewpoints. We also stopped off for lunch (delicious authentic Portuguese bbq) and later a Poncha, of course. We are so glad we met Cátia, professional but equally a pleasure to share a day tour with her and we laughed and chatted all the way round. My husband, daughter and I had a full day West tour with Explore. They are very reasonably priced and will take you to all the must sees of the island. But being with a local also meant going to the local gems. I had poncho (the drink you must have in Madeira ) in town, and it was meh, but the place Catia took us to was amazing! The bar seemed to be a real popular hangout, and it had one very busy woman who was solely dedicated to pounding and straining fresh fruit for the many flavors of poncho. And the bbq place we went to for lunch was out of this world! Huge wood fire going, and meat brought out on meter long skewers that they hung from a rod right over your table! You won’t find these places on your own as a tourist. Thank you David and Catia for a very entertaining day in Madeira! ~ Terry C

David was our driver and guide for our madeira adventures today. We were 4 adults who just landed on the island. David arrived on-time with an afternoon agenda for us that allowed us to explore points of interest on maderia. He collected us on time from our hotel in Funchal and was courteous, knowledgeable and easy to chat with. He spoke several languages. Since he is a local of madeira, David knew the points of interest and when to get to them in order to avoid lines and crowded tourist times. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon exploring exploring the island with our private guide. This was our first time in madeira and our first time hiring a driver. I would highly recommend David and his company for any of your travel logistics while staying on the Maderia. His communication was quick and service affordable. Cátia was onze gids en chauffeur voor een dag sightseeing Madeira. Iedereen die dit ook een dag wil doen raad ik aan om Cátia te boeken. We had the pleasure of having David as our driver during our stay in Madeira, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We were a group of seven, so he always had to take a van, but every time we called him, he was available and happy to take us wherever we needed to go. David is not only incredibly kind and accommodating but also gave us excellent recommendations on things to do on the island. When he drove us to Pico Ruivo and it was too foggy to see anything, he immediately suggested an alternative and took us to a stunning spot he knew personally. We spent two days with David exploring the Easy and West coast. He was a very very nice chap! He knew everything a tour guide should and shared information about his own experiences and his family. He was very friendly and professional. He used web cams to take us to the sites when the weather would be at its best- it’s very changeable so having the freedom to mix things up was excellent. David’s company seemed a little less expensive than some of the other companies who have fancy keeps and Mercedes- but we loved the yellow taxi and David’s driving was safe and careful. I have been 2w ago in Madeira and I need to share that my level of excitement about this gorgeous island is largely due to David and his services... we rented his van for the full week after reviewing different options and my full family (my wife and me, grandma, 3 kids of 12-3-1yo) created a magic personal connection with him which made our stay a fantastic moment. he has a real passion to show the most gorgeous places and most fun events (all about poncha places and amazing nightlife...) at the right price.
